Pawan Virtually Inaugurates Urban forests In Nellore, Kavali

The Nellore and Kavali urban forests, developed under the SPSR Nellore territorial forest division, were inaugurated in the presence of public representatives, forest department officials and local residents.

NELLORE: Deputy chief minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the newly developed urban forests at Nellore and Kavali as part of the launch of 17 Urban Forests, Eco Parks, Eco Trails and Community-Based Eco-Tourism (CBET) centres across Andhra Pradesh.

The Nellore and Kavali urban forests, developed under the SPSR Nellore territorial forest division, were inaugurated in the presence of public representatives, forest department officials and local residents.

Participating in the virtual programme from Nellore, endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said urban forests would play an important role in increasing green cover, conserving biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance and providing recreational spaces for urban residents.

He said the state government was according priority to environmental conservation and sustainable urban development.

Forest officials said the two urban forests represent another step towards promoting urban forestry, expanding green spaces and creating eco-friendly recreational destinations for the public.

District forest officer K. Mahaboob Basha, divisional forest officer (social forestry) M. Nagarjuna Reddy, Kavali sub-divisional forest officer P. Srikanth Reddy, Nellore forest range officer S. Malyadri, Kavali forest range officer G.S.L. Soujanya and other officials attended the inaugural programmes.
