Patriotic Fervour Marks R-Day Celebrations Across Chittoor, Tirupati, and Nellore

 Tirupati: The 76th Republic Day celebrations on Sunday witnessed a wave of patriotism sweeping through Chittoor, Tirupati, and Nellore, with numerous events showcasing national pride, cultural heritage, and a deep sense of gratitude towards those who have dedicated themselves to the service of the country.

In Chittoor, the celebrations were held at the District Police Training Centre, where the National Flag was hoisted by District Collector Sumit Kumar. The ceremony was attended by District Judge E. Bhima Raju, Junior Civil Judge S. Srinivasarao, MP D. Prasad Rao, SP Manikanta Chandolu, and others. The Collector, along with the SP, inspected the police parade after the flag hoisting.

A progress report detailing the district’s achievements was presented, while cultural performances by local students added vibrancy to the occasion. In his speech, the Collector highlighted the theme of this year’s Republic Day, "Cultural Preservation and Development," and paid a heartfelt tribute to Army Jawan Pangal Kartheek Yadav, who sacrificed his life for the nation. Freedom fighter T.C. Rajan was also felicitated on the occasion.

Special recognition was given to former Collector S. Shanmohan and SP Manikanta Chandolu for their efforts during the 2024 election period. The event also showcased the accomplishments of various government departments, including Education, DWAMA, and Agriculture, through informative displays.

In Tirupati, District Collector Dr. S. Venkateswar, accompanied by SP Harshavardhan Raj, conducted the flag-hoisting ceremony before reviewing a police parade. Representatives from key departments such as Agriculture, Tourism, and Rural Development presented their initiatives aimed at advancing public welfare. The festive spirit was palpable as students from local schools and colleges performed cultural dances.

In Nellore, similar celebrations were held at the Police Parade Ground, where Collector O. Anand hoisted the national flag. He, along with SP Krishna Kant, received a salute from the police personnel during the ceremonial parade. Following the flag hoisting, the Collector addressed the gathering, applauding the efforts of various district officers and departments for their exceptional service. As part of the celebrations, peace doves were released into the sky, symbolising harmony and unity.

The Red Sandalwood Anti-Smuggling Task Force in Tirupati hosted its own Republic Day event. SP P. Srinivas hoisted the National Flag and honoured employees for their commendable efforts in curbing the illegal smuggling of red sanders. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to officers who demonstrated outstanding service in the task force’s mission.
