HYDERABAD: Apollo Hospitals on Thursday launched a sports injuries and orthopedics facility at its Financial District unit in Hyderabad, as the city sees rising demand for specialised treatment and rehabilitation among athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins visited the new facility along with team mates Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain during the inauguration. The players were shown the treatment and rehabilitation services available for sports-related injuries and later interacted with hospital officials. The inauguration took place in the presence of special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Anil Kamineni, founder of KEI Group.

Dr Deepthi Nandan Reddy, head of the department of orthopedics at Apollo Hospitals-Financial District, said sports injuries required accurate diagnosis and timely treatment to avoid long-term complications. He said the facility would treat conditions ranging from ligament injuries to complex joint problems through surgical procedures and rehabilitation programmes that help patients return to physical activity safely.

Further, according to Tejesvi Rao Veerepalli, CEO of Apollo Hospitals-Telugu states, participation in sports and fitness activities had increased steadily and there was a growing requirement for specialised treatment and recovery services in the region.

Doctors associated with the facility include Dr Raviteja Rudraraju, senior consultant orthopedic surgeon in sports medicine, and Dr Raminder Kaur, senior consultant physiotherapist.
