Parvatipuram Manyam: 10th Class Student Dies As Govt School Compound Wall Collapses

A 10th class student, Aruna Teja, 15, died and another, Yakob, was injured after the compound wall of the Government High School in which they were studying collapsed at Salur in Parvathipuram Manyam district on Monday. Teja's parents and relatives staged a dharna with the body at the school.
Salur CI Appalanaidu reached the school and spoke to the protesters. The issue was taken to the notice of ministers Sandhya Rani and education minister Lokesh.
Minister Sandhya Rani informed media that Lokesh announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the victim's family. He also directed the officials to provide quality treatment to the injured student.
After the morning session classes, all the students came out of the classrooms in the lunch break. On completing their lunch, some students went out into the open. Later, they returned and sat on the compound wall of the school. As the wall was in a dilapidated condition, it collapsed and all those sitting on it were injured. On observing this, the teachers immediately shifted the students to the nearby hospital for treatment.
By the time, doctors declared Aruna Teja dead. Yakob received preliminary treatment.
