Palla Accuses YSRC Of Violence During ZPTC, MPTC Polls
Srinivasa Rao cited what he called an alleged admission by a YSRC worker about cash distribution in Ramachandrapuram. He alleged TD workers had been attacked in Punganur.
Vijayawada:Telugu Desam state president Palla Srinivasa Rao on Thursday accused the YSRC of resorting to violence, booth capturing, and intimidation during the MPTC and ZPTC elections, alleging that the opposition party is using undemocratic means after sensing public rejection.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri, he said the NDA’s 95 per cent strike rate in urban local body elections has unnerved the YSRC, which feared a similar verdict in rural areas.
Presenting video footage, Srinivasa Rao cited petrol bomb attacks near polling stations in Errapalli village of Pulivendula and Railway Kodur. He alleged that in Jammalamadugu, former legislator Ramasubba Reddy’s son stormed polling booths and intimidated election staff and voters.
The TD state president accused that Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and members of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s family entered polling booths in violation of Election Commission rules. He said, as a result, turnout of voters in Kadapa district has been low. He contrasted it with 33 per cent polling in Chittoor and more than 30 per cent in Anantapur and Kurnool districts.
He further alleged that YSRC brought hired musclemen from Tamil Nadu to Kuppam to cast bogus votes. He alleged that forged Aadhaar cards had been used.
