P4 Model: Krishna Milk Union Adopts 5,465 Bangaru Kutumbams

Union to support Bangaru Kutumbams with loans for milch animals, fodder, veterinary care and women-centric dairy initiatives.

Vijayawada: In line with the state government’s innovative P4 model aimed at building a poverty-free society, the Krishna Milk Union has adopted 5,465 rural families as Bangaru Kutumbams.

During a mass Gokulam programme held in Nandigama and Munagacharla mandals on Sunday, Krishna milk union chairman Chalasani Anjaneyulu and its board members handed over the adoption declarations to district collector Lakshmisha.

The collector explained that the adopted included 1,524 families from Vatsavai, 1,192 from Penuganchiprolu, 1,255 from Vissannapeta, 747 from Vijayawada rural and 747 from Chandarlapadu mandal. The Krishna milk union would study the economic conditions of these families and extend necessary support to empower them.

The Krishna Milk Union has announced that it would bear the interest on Rs 1 lakh loans provided to these families through KCC (Kisan Credit Cards) for the purchase of milch animals. It would also ensure the supply of fodder, veterinary services, etc, and establish collective Gokulams for their effective utilization.

Special focus would be placed on encouraging women dairy farmers and improving the living standards of rural households, the collector said.

Lakshmisha said the Krishna milk union has committed Rs 1 crore towards supplying one lakh doses of sex-sorted semen to improve cattle breed quality and milk yield. Each dose, worth Rs 150, would be provided at a subsidized rate of Rs 50 to farmers.
