Visakhapatnam: Implementation of the P-4 scheme in Alluri Sitarama Raju district has hit hurdles, prompting district collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar to convene a review meeting with officials and special officers on Saturday.
Stressing the need for urgent corrective measures, the collector urged public representatives, government employees, and voluntary organisations to take responsibility for adopting identified Golden Families. He directed officials to address both financial and non-financial needs and ensure that Village Action Plans are prepared at the secretariat and village levels.
Mandal officials lagging behind were instructed to draw up special action plans. The collector warned of strict action against officers who fail to show progress, underlining that P-4 is a prestigious government initiative.
Dinesh Kumar also called for coordination meetings in secretariat areas to review Golden Families adopted by mentors. He said success stories of mentor–family linkages should be documented and shared, and each secretariat should prepare a record of achievements.
Proposals under the Fund and Need programme were sought to enhance student skills, improve facilities in government schools, and strengthen health initiatives. Officials were instructed to ensure that all such proposals are registered on the Fund and Need portal.
The collector reminded officials that strict adherence to government-issued Standard Operating Procedures is essential for effective implementation of the P-4 scheme. The meeting was attended by Rampachodavaram ITDA PO Smarana Raj, Chintoor ITDA in-charge PO Shubham Nokwal, assistant collector Sahith, in-charge RDO, P-4 nodal officer and deputy collector Lokeswara Rao, DRDA PD V. Murali, Roads and Buildings Department EE Bala Sundara Babu, Village and Ward Secretariat nodal officer P.S. Kumar, DPO K.P. Chandrasekhar, district planning officer P. Prasad, Paderu ITDA APO Venkateswarlu, and several mandal special officers, mandal revenue officers and mandal development officers.
