HYDERABAD: The long-awaited flyover connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Kondapur Phase-2 is set to be inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the first week of June. The multi-level flyover will ease traffic flow at Gachibowli junction.
The 1.2-km-long flyover was constructed with a cost of `178 crore, under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP). The flyover has been constructed over the flyovers at Gachibowli junction and Shilpa Layout Phase-1.
With this, the GHMC has completed 37 of the 42 SRDP projects in the city. The flyover will allow commuters to travel from ORR to Kondapur and Hafeezpet with ease, while also giving a congestion-free ride from Kondapur to the Shamshabad airport and vice versa. It also gives better connectivity to Hitec City and Financial District.
Despite delays, GHMC stated that the construction works are almost complete, and finishing touches were being given. GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan inspected the flyover works, and instructed engineers to complete the work by the end of May.
Karnan also set July as the deadline for the completion for the Falaknuma railway overbridge (ROBs) and August for the Shastripuram facility.
