Ongole police question RGV for 5 hours

Anantapur: Film director Ram Gopal Varma appeared before the Ongole Rural police on Friday following a case registered against him for posting morphed pictures of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan and Nara Lokesh on social media.

Following repeated notices by the Ongole police, RGV arrived in Ongole along with his lawyer and appeared before the police.

As per the charges against the noted film director, he posted morphed images of Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan and Lokesh on social media as part of promoting his movie “Vyuham” ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Sources said prior to appearing before the police, Ram Gopal Varma met YSRC district in-charge Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy at a hotel in Vellampalli in Maddipadu mandal.

Police questioned the film director for five long hours. RGV responded that he had posted the pictures on his X account purely for the promotion of his movie. He denied any nexus with YSRC leaders but mentioned that he had only a casual friendship. He denied role of any YSRC leader in morphing the pictures

Sources revealed that the police team questioned the film director about him getting ₹2 crore through AP Fibernet. Police further asked Ram Gopal Varma about his meetings with YSRC leaders Chevireddy and Prakasam YSRC district unit president B. Sivaprasad prior to arriving at the police station.
