On CM Naidu’s Call, Energy Minister Avoids Convoy
The minister appreciated that the Nagarjuna Sagar canals’ de-silting and repairs have been completed ahead of the farming season. He pointed out that around 20 substations are being established in the district to improve power supply.
Tirupati: Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar followed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s call for energy conservation by travelling in his own car and doing away with the escort and other vehicles during his tour of Addanki constituency on Friday.
Officials and residents appreciated the move and said it sent a message on fuel conservation and responsible use of government resources.
The minister said people should adopt energy-saving practices and make greater use of alternative energy sources, especially at a time when global conflicts are affecting fuel supplies and increasing pressure on energy resources.
During his visit to Addanki constituency, Ravi Kumar participated in a public grievance meeting at the Santamaguluru mandal, where he received petitions from residents. He distributed Chief Minister’s Relief Fund cheques and letters of credit worth Rs 69.16 lakh to 84 beneficiaries.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said nearly Rs 1,300 crore have been provided through the CMRF during the last two years for medical assistance to poor and needy people across the state. He said 2,938 people in Addanki constituency have so far received ₹25.31 crore under the scheme.
Later, Ravi Kumar felicitated meritorious Class X students from four mandals and presented Rs 10,000 each to 20 students who secured the highest marks in their mandals.
He inaugurated a drinking water plant at the Santamaguluru Primary Health Centre, which has been set up with support from Asian Hospitals.
