NTR Varsity Sets Up Command Control Centre
Plan to ensure students attend exams under electronic surveillance
Vijayawada: Medical students pursuing both under-graduate and postgraduate courses would write their annual or supplementary examinations under electronic surveillance, so as to avoid any malpractices, in 37 government and private medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav inaugurated the ‘Command Control Room’ at NTR University of Health Sciences here on Thursday.
Later, he told the media persons that, on an average, 60,000 students would be appearing for the annual and supplementary exams per annum. As closed-circuit cameras were installed in the medical colleges and these are connected to the Command Control Room, the designated university authorities would monitor the way how the students are appearing for the exams.
At present, he said, exams held in five colleges would be monitored through electronic surveillance. Subsequently, more colleges would be brought under its purview, he said.
Exams in courses like dental, ayurveda, homeopathy, nursing etc would also be held under electronic scanner in a phased manner.
Each medical college would have some 25 CC cameras. The Command Control Room was equipped with a six screen video wall so that the university staff would monitor the students.
He pointed out that in case CC cameras failed to work in any medical college, such information would reach the Command Control Room through AI based technology, and rectification measures could be initiated.
The data in the Command Control Room would be saved for 70 days.
NTRUHS vice chancellor Chandrasekhar and registrar Radhika Reddy cited an expenditure of Rs.30 lakh to set up the CCC, and added that it would cost Rs.1.5 crore for a two-year maintenance.
