VIJAYAWADA: The NTR district police have imposed restrictions on New Year celebrations on December 31 to ensure public safety.

Police commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu said that no permission has been granted for celebrations on public roads. He warned that vehicles should not be driven at high speed or with triple riding, especially under the influence of alcohol.

Traffic curbs will be in place on major roads, including Bandar Road, Eluru Road and BRTS Road, as well as on the Benz Circle and Kanaka Durga flyovers.

Youngsters have been advised not to gather on roads to cut cakes or shout loudly as part of the celebrations.

The CP warned of stern action against those who ride motorcycles at high speed after removing silencers to create high-decibel noise, perform dangerous manoeuvres or burst crackers that disturb public peace and cause inconvenience to elderly people, children, and patients.

He appealed to the public to celebrate the New Year in a pleasant and responsible manner, without causing accidents or inconvenience to others.
