Anantapur: Anantapur district is set to get a major renewable energy project with NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. proposing a 1,200 MW (1.2 GW) mega solar power park across Kanekal, Rayadurg and D. Hirehal mandals.
The project, facilitated through the efforts of Rayadurg MLA Kalava Srinivasulu, is expected to attract investments worth several thousand crores and strengthen Andhra Pradesh's renewable energy capacity.
The solar park is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment during its construction and operational phases while boosting infrastructure and economic activity in the region.
Kalava Srinivasulu said the project aligns with the state government's focus on expanding clean energy and sustainable development. Once commissioned, the solar park will supply clean power to the grid, reduce carbon emissions and reinforce Andhra Pradesh's position as a leading renewable energy hub.
He added that the project would provide a significant developmental boost to the drought-prone Rayalaseema region.
