No Cancellation Of Ongole IIIT Campus: Minister
In a press statement, the minister clarified that the IIIT campus in Ongole was currently operating out of Rao & Naidu Engineering College and SSN Engineering College.
Nellore: Minister of social welfare Dr Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy has dismissed recent media reports about the cancellation of the Ongole IIIT (Indian Institute of Information Technology) campus as false and misleading.
In a press statement, the minister clarified that the IIIT campus in Ongole was currently operating out of Rao & Naidu Engineering College and SSN Engineering College. As Rao & Naidu College's management refused to extend the lease agreement, only first-year engineering students will be shifted to the Idupulapaya IIIT campus.
Students from second to final year currently studying at SSN Engineering College will continue their education at the same location without disruption.
Dr Veeranjaneya Swamy attributed the current situation to the failure of the previous government to construct permanent buildings for the IIIT campus. He assured that the current arrangement is temporary and will remain in place until new campus facilities are built.
