Nellore: A shocking daylight murder of a ruling TD leader Gottipati Prasad at his poultry farm in Chintalapalem village of Gattupalli panchayat in Jaladanki mandal of SPSR Nellore district on Wednesday has left residents terrified.

According to police, two unidentified men had visited the farm earlier in the day, asking for 5 kg of chicken. They struck a deal and left—only to return and stab 58-year-old Prasad multiple times, leaving six deep wounds. The assailants reportedly covered Prasad’s face with a gunny bag before fleeing.

The crime occurred between 11 a.m. and 12 noon. At the time, some villagers had been attending the last rites at a nearby cremation ground.

Prasad Naidu is survived by his wife, Lakshmi Prasanna, who lives in Chennai, and two married daughters, Vasavi and Tejaswini, both software professionals, residing in Sweden. His brother Venkateswarlu Naidu lives in Kavali.

Police officials said Prasad had last been seen with his friend Venu, who later left. Family members, meanwhile, have expressed suspicion against multiple individuals, prompting a wider investigation.

Kavali MLA Kavya Krishna Reddy and Udayagiri MLA Kakarla Suresh visited the spot, met the grieving family, and reviewed the situation with police.

Police have formed teams to trace and identify the killers.

Calling the murder a heinous act, MLA Suresh directed police to ensure strict action against those involved in the killing.
