Nellore IRCS Chairman Receives Red Cross Award

The award was presented in recognition of the humanitarian services rendered by the SPSR Nellore district branch during 2025–26

Nellore: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) SPSR Nellore district branch chairman Vakati Vijaya Kumar Reddy received the Red Cross award from Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer during the World Red Cross Day and World Thalassemia Day celebrations held at Lok Bhavan in Vijayawada on Thursday.

The award was presented in recognition of the humanitarian services rendered by the SPSR Nellore district branch during 2025–26. Governor Abdul Nazeer is also president of the IRCS Andhra Pradesh state branch.

The Nellore branch was recognised for its work in resource mobilisation, blood donation services, healthcare support, patient outreach programmes, disaster response activities and welfare initiatives for vulnerable sections.

The celebrations also marked the 107th anniversary of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Representatives of the SPSR Nellore district branch thanked the Andhra Pradesh state branch for the recognition and said they would continue humanitarian and healthcare services across the district.

The district branch has been conducting blood bank services, cancer care support, health awareness programmes and patient assistance activities benefiting people across the district.
