Nellore: In a heartwarming gesture, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday visited the SC Colony of Punnavavaripalem village in Gudur constituency in the district and personally handed over a monthly widow pension of Rs 4,000 to Padmamma and Rs 15,000 to Tulasamma, a differently-abled woman, under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme. The Chief Minister is in the district as part of the 'Pedala Sevalo' programme.

The 'Pedala Sevalo' initiative aims to ensure doorstep delivery of welfare pensions and direct interaction with beneficiaries. The Chief Minister is on a five-day tour of Nellore, Tirupati, Kadapa and Chittoor districts from July 1 to 5 to launch a series of welfare initiatives and infrastructure development programmes. The Chief Minister launched the 'Pedala Sevalo' pension distribution programme at Chillakur mandal and took part in the public meeting organized there, and addressed the gathering.

The Andhra Pradesh government has released ₹2,711.79 crore for the distribution of the NTR Bharosa pensions to 62,19,648 beneficiaries across the state in July.
