Nellore Civic Chief Orders Removal Of Unstable Hoardings, Bans New Flexes

Nellore: Nellore municipal commissioner Y.O. Nandan has directed all agencies related to advertisement hoardings and flex banners to immediately verify the structural stability of existing installations and remove unsafe ones to prevent accidents during the expected strong winds and heavy rains caused by Cyclone Montha.
Addressing representatives of advertising and hoarding agencies at his chamber on Monday, the Commissioner prohibited the erection of any new hoardings or flex banners until weather conditions improve. These steps aim to avoid potential loss of life or property due to collapsing structures.
The city planner of the Nellore Municipal Corporation reiterated that strict action would be taken against those who fail to comply with safety directives. Residents and business owners have been urged to cooperate with municipal authorities in ensuring public safety.
Nandan also warned that installing unauthorised flex banners, posters or lollipops within city limits is strictly prohibited. Legal action will be taken against violators, he said. He added that no flex banners should be erected without prior permission from the corporation, and even approved ones must be removed within 48 hours. Printing agencies have been advised to verify corporation approval before printing any banners.
Plans are underway to make Nellore a “Flex-Free and Poster-Free City”, in line with the vision of minister P. Narayana and MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy. “Unauthorised banners and posters spoil the city’s appearance and will not be tolerated,” the Commissioner warned.
