Nellore Celebrates Potti Sreeramulu’s 125th Birth Anniversary
He announced that the government has declared a year-long celebration of Sriramulu’s birth anniversary from March 16, 2025, to March 16, 2026. He also revealed that the Chief Minister has approved the installation of a 58-foot statue of Sriramulu in the state capital.
Nellore: The 125th birth anniversary of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu was celebrated with great reverence at SBS Kalyana Mandapam in Pappulaveedhi, under the aegis of the Potti Sriramulu Memorial Trust.
Urban development minister P. Narayana attended as the chief guest, offering floral tributes to Potti Sriramulu’s statue along with Arya Vysya community members and TD leaders. Local trade associations honoured the minister for his contributions.
Narayana hailed Sriramulu as a true Gandhian and a symbol of sacrifice, who undertook a 58-day hunger strike demanding a separate Telugu state and laid down his life for the cause. He also fought for Dalit temple entry rights and is a hero all generations must remember, the minister said.
