Naidu Wants AP’s 2025–26 Budget to Be Goal-Oriented
Naidu asks the Minister to streamline government services and enhance public welfare
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday sought an innovative 2025-26 AP budget, which is goal-oriented and drives growth that achieves the ambitious economic milestones of Andhra Pradesh becoming a USD 2.4 trillion GSDP economy with a per capita income of USD 42,000 by 2047.
Addressing what he called a "brainstorming workshop" of AP’s ministers and secretaries, Naidu asked them to streamline government services and enhance public welfare. He said there has been a paradigm shift in Indian politics, where voters have rejected false promises and are now demanding performance-driven leadership.
The Chief Minister asked government officials to shoulder their responsibilities with dedication and reaffirmed his commitment to a governance model that prioritises delivery, transparency and long-term progress.
“Accelerating revenue growth, streamlining bureaucratic processes and fostering a culture of innovation is the need of the hour,” he underlined. He said that his government is collaborating with Karmayogi to build capacity and enhance the efficiency of governance.
Stressing the responsibility of integrating various departments, the CM called for a comprehensive review of administration to ensure cohesion.
Addressing the state’s challenges, he pointed to the low morale of officials, defunct departments and derailed projects. He revealed that nearly 90 centrally sponsored schemes had become non-functional due to mismanagement and fund diversions. He emphasised that his government is now placing right people in key positions who can prioritise the optimal implementation of central schemes.
Naidu wanted officials to leverage the "first mover advantage" to secure central funds under the newly announced Union Budget schemes.
As part of his long-term vision, the Chief Minister outlined the "Swarnandhra 2047" roadmap, aligning with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. The strategy focuses on achieving a sustained 15 per cent growth rate and ensuring fiscal responsibility by effectively managing and repaying loans. He highlighted comparative growth figures, pointing out that Gujarat has grown 15 times while West Bengal has expanded four times, despite the latter possessing more resources.
The CM highlighted the importance of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into governance, similar to how information technology (IT) turned a game-changer in 1995. Additionally, he stressed the urgency of addressing key infrastructure gaps, particularly in providing potable water to every household in Andhra Pradesh.
Listing key principles driving the administration’s agenda, Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to strengthen family welfare services, ensuring streetlights, roads, drainage, garbage collection and a circular economy model to build a healthier and wealthier society.
