Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will attend the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu on Thursday, with pending issues arising from the bifurcation of AP expected to figure prominently in the discussions.

The meeting, chaired by home minister Amit Shah, will be attended by the CMs Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, besides the Lt Governor/Administrator of Puducherry.

Naidu would raise issues concerning Andhra Pradesh, including implementation of the AP Reorganisation Act, unresolved bifurcation matters, inter-state issues and major infrastructure projects.

With 12 years having passed since the 2014 bifurcation, the CM is likely to seek Centre's intervention to settle the remaining issues under the Reorganisation Act. These include division of institutions listed under Schedules IX and X, distribution of assets and liabilities, and settlement of pending financial matters.

Naidu is also expected to highlight the revenue gap and tax-related issues and seek early resolution of the outstanding financial commitments.

The CM will draw the Centre's attention to infrastructure projects envisaged under the bifurcation legislation, including the Dugarajapatnam port, Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada metro projects, railway connectivity, airport development and industrial corridors.

Officials said Naidu will seek expeditious clearances, funding and central assistance for various projects.
