Naidu Seeks Centre's Help For Completion of Polavaram Before Godavari Pushkarams In 2027

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged Union Jal Shakti minister C.R. Patil to clear all issues and extend cooperation for completion of the Polavaram project by 2027, before the Godavari Pushkarams.

The CM briefed the Union minister in New Delhi that he had personally visited the project five times till now and wanted the completion of the reservoir that can hold water upto 41.15 metres, in the first phase.

The new diaphragm wall was completed by April 2, 2026. The earth-cum-rock fill dam works at the Gap-1 and Gap-2 are being carried out at a faster pace, he informed.

He also informed that the capacity of the left and right canals has been increased to 17,500 cusecs basing on the requirement. He also sought release of funds necessary for taking up other works relating to the project.

Naidu also discussed fund relase under Har Khet Ko Pani scheme, increasing the heigh of Almatti dam, Upper Krishna Project Phase - III.
