Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu presented the Swachh Andhra–2026 awards to sanitation warriors, NGOs, colonies, associations and institutions that made notable contributions to cleanliness and waste management across Andhra Pradesh.

The awards recognised achievements in several categories, including hotels, Rythu Bazaars, municipalities, gram panchayats, schools, hospitals, hostels, residential institutions, bus stations, government offices and temples.

The municipalities of Tenali, Chilakaluripet, Mangalagiri, Ponnur, Bobbili, Rajam, Yelamanchili, Palamaner and Giddalur received Swachhata awards.

The gram panchayats of K Moolapeta, Ravulapalem, Pattikonda, Duppada, Namburu and RL Puram were honoured in the Swachh Gram Panchayat category.

In the schools category, the Nidamarru Zilla Parishad High School, Devirreddy Sarada High School in Nellore and Chandrampalem ZP High School received awards.

The efforts of the Primary Health Centres at Pendurthi, Ibrahimpatnam, Aspari and Konakanamitla were recognised, along with those of the Urban PHCs at Mangalagiri-Indiranagar, Tirupati, Chinnawada and Visakhapatnam.

The hostels and residential institutions honoured included the government boys’ hostel in Chittoor, BC boys’ hostel in Kadapa, Tribal Welfare hostel in Anakapalli, Ambedkar Gurukulam in Palnadu, and girls’ residential schools in Eluru and Bapatla.

The Dwarakanagar bus station in Visakhapatnam, Chittoor SP office and GVMC office were also presented awards.

In the temples category, the Tirumala Tirupati temple, Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple and Simhachalam Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple were honoured.

Among hotels, the Novotel Visakhapatnam received the cleanliness award. The Vijayawada-Payakapuram, Kurnool-See Camp and Srikakulam-Willis Rythu Bazaars were recognised for maintaining sanitation standards.

Naidu also presented an award to a startup for outstanding work in waste management. He visited an exhibition organised as part of the awards ceremony.

Municipal administration minister P Narayana, Swachh Andhra corporation chairman Pattabhi and senior officials of various departments attended the programme.
