Naidu Calls for Bharat Ratna for NTR
Says carrying forward NTR’s ideals is a collective responsibility; Mahanaadu passes unanimous resolution seeking nation’s highest honour for the Telugu icon.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said that carrying forward the ideals of N. T. Rama Rao is the collective responsibility of all, and emphasised the need to pass them on to future generations.
Speaking at the Mahanaadu, the TDP chief said that as part of fulfilling NTR’s vision, Nara Lokesh had announced 33 per cent reservation for women in party positions. He described NTR as a symbol of Telugu self-respect and said people across the state are demanding that he be conferred the Bharat Ratna.
Naidu praised NTR as a legendary figure who would live forever in the hearts of Telugu people, stating that his achievements in cinema and politics were unmatched. He noted that forming a government within nine months of launching a party was a rare feat in history.
Recalling NTR’s philosophy that “society is the temple and people are the gods,” Naidu said the ideology would continue to guide the party. The Mahanaadu also passed a unanimous resolution urging the Centre to confer the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour, on NTR for his outstanding contributions to the nation and the state.
