Vijayawada: Civil Supplies minister Nadendla Manohar on Wednesday slammed former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying the latter is making tall claims about providing benefits to farmers during his regime. Manohar wondered whether the former CM would be ready for a discussion on the issue.
Speaking to media persons here, the minister pointed out that Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to clear ₹1,674 crore of dues to farmers after procuring paddy from them.
While this is so, the NDA coalition government has procured paddy worth ₹12,857 crore raised during both the Kharif and Rabi seasons. ₹12,000 crore of the amount had been paid to farmers within 24 hours of procuring the paddy, Manohar pointed out. However, he admitted there had been a 40-day delay in remitting ₹1,000 crore to farmers.
The minister wondered how Jagan Mohan Reddy could talk about NDA’s governance when the former had even failed in filling potholes on the roads during his regime. He questioned the YSRC regime for delay in implementing its poll promises like prohibition on liquor, Ammavodi and other schemes.
Manohar pointed out that their government is providing a domestic gas refill within a gap of four months in a year under Deepam-2.0. Further, in the first phase, 97 lakh persons had been given gas refills by releasing ₹846 crore and in the second phase, 91.10 lakh persons had been given the refills at a cost of ₹712 crore.
The minister advised the former CM to get information through Google and Artificial Intelligence in case he wants any information on disbursement of money to farmers from whom paddy has been procured.
