MP Sribharat Presents Vizag Development Vision at Moscow Summit

Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat presented the city’s development vision and the Andhra Pradesh government's urban development initiatives before international delegates at the 5th International Transport Summit in Moscow, GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg said on Tuesday.

The commissioner said a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed between the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and the Government of Moscow during the summit. Following the signing, Sribharat met Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow and head of the department of transport and road infrastructure development, and reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

Speaking on the occasion, Sribharat said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was committed to developing Visakhapatnam into a world-class city. He said the agreement with the Government of Moscow would facilitate the adoption of advanced technologies, modern transport systems and global best practices in urban development.

According to the commissioner, the MP highlighted several flagship initiatives being implemented by GVMC, including Project SARTHI–Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), the eRT transport system, development of signal-free junctions, road widening, digital civic services, technology-enabled monitoring of drinking water supply, digital issuance of birth and death certificates and Smart Vending Zones.

Ketan Garg said the partnership would facilitate the exchange of expertise in smart mobility, intelligent transport systems, electric mobility, traffic management and digital transformation. He added that the collaboration would strengthen the Visakhapatnam Economic Region as a hub for economic development and technological innovation.

Deputy Mayor Maksim Liksutov said the partnership with Visakhapatnam would further enhance long-term cooperation in knowledge exchange, electric mobility, intelligent transport systems, traffic management and industrial collaboration.
