MP Says ₹2,416 Crore PMMSY Proposals Approved for AP

Nellore: Central government has approved proposals worth ₹2,416.92 crore for Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Union Fisheries minister Rajan Singh informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Seeking details of PMMSY implementation, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy raised a question about funds received under PMMSY by Andhra Pradesh particularly Nellore district and the projects taken up under the scheme. The Lok Sabha member further enquired whether any survey has been conducted in the State during the last five years to implement skill development initiatives for fishermen.
In his written reply, the Union minister said of the approved ₹2,416.92 crore proposals for AP, the Centre’s share is ₹569.86 crore. ₹482.55 crore of these have been released so far for various fisheries-related activities across AP, including Nellore district.
In Nellore district, works on the Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour taken up under the Blue Revolution at a cost of ₹288 crore have been completed.
Rajan Singh further stated that under the Climate Resilient Coastal Fishing Villages (CRCFV) initiative, the Centre has selected 100 villages nationwide, including Tatichettipalem, Lakshminarayanapuram, and Eedurupalem villages in Nellore district.
On skill development, he said training programmes under PMMSY are being implemented through the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) across all States and Union territories.
As per NFDB reports, 218 training programmes covering 9,570 fishermen and fish farmers have been conducted in Andhra Pradesh, with ₹2.54 crore released to various agencies. 2,180 women beneficiaries in coastal districts have been trained in seaweed cultivation.
