Vijayawada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch development works worth Rs.13,000 crore during his visit to Srisailam in Kurnool district on Thursday.

This was announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at a tele-coference he held on Wednesday with the ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and party leaders to review the arrangements made for the PM’s visit to Srisailam and Kurnool. He called upon the leaders of the three-party alliance to make the PM’s visit a grand success.

Naidu said that the system of a “double engine government” has been benefiting AP immensely and also helping the state to implement several welfare schemes. The state government, he noted, entered into a deal with Google to set up an AI Data Hub in Visakhapatnam, a day ago in Delhi. He described it as a historic decision and added that when Microsoft was set up in Hyderabad in 1998, it helped develop the IT ecosystem and laid the foundation for the state’s knowledge economy.

The CM attributed credit to IT minister Nara Lokesh for the signing of the deal with Google and added that Prime Minister Modi and Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Ashwini Vaishnaw also helped in facilitating this deal.

Referring to Google’s promise to pump in $15 billion in Visakhapatnam, Naidu stressed that this was the highest-ever foreign direct investment in India.

On PM Modi’s participation in the programme called ‘Super GST-Super Savings’, Naidu reiterated his appeal to all to make it a grand success. With the GST 2.0 reforms, each family could save Rs.15,000 a year, he claimed.

Naidu said the visit of the PM to the Srisailam temple would prompt a major development of the shrine’s facilities. “We would develop it into one having Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peetam, like in the Tirumala temple. He vowed efforts to develop Rayalaseema region as a tourism destination and bring in several major industries there, in addition to developing horticulture crops.
