He asserted that the allotment process were carried out in accordance with the government policy through a transparent online lottery system.
Vijayawada:Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana on Tuesday said the government had completed allocation of 98.6 per cent returnable plots to farmers who had given their lands for the Amaravati capital city projects, while registration of 89.3 per cent of the allotted plots has been completed.
After inspecting the nearly completed MLA and MLC residential towers in Amaravati, the minister accused the opposition YSR Congress of creating an “unnecessary controversy” over plot allotments. He asserted that the allotment process were carried out in accordance with the government policy through a transparent online lottery system.
Addressing the media, Narayana said a total of 30,753 farmers had pooled 35,017 acres for the capital project. Of them, 30,079 farmers covering 34,527 acres had already been allotted plots. Only 674 farmers, who contributed 489 acres, were yet to receive allotments due to pending court cases, family disputes, category-related issues or other legal complications.
The minister clarified that 65 cases were pending in courts, while 45 cases related to assigned category-4 lands. Another 324 farmers were found ineligible for minimum plot entitlement, while some cases were delayed due to the deaths of landowners and pending reports concerning Lanka lands.
He said arrangements are being made to conduct lotteries for allotment of plots to another 59 farmers covering 140.25 acres.
Narayana said that out of 70,824 plots allotted to farmers, registration of 63,295 plots had been completed. Registrations for the remaining 7,529 plots were pending due to litigation, ownership disputes, inam and endowment land issues or family-related conflicts.
Work on the trunk roads, layout roads and other infrastructure works in Amaravati are progressing rapidly and attracting nationwide attention. Some 4,026 houses were being built for officials and employees in the capital region. Twelve towers meant for MLAs and MLCs were nearing completion, and the MLA quarters would be handed over to the GAD within a week, while MLC residences would be handed over within 15 days.
Buildings for All India Service officers, the ministers’ bungalows and Group-I, Group-II and Group-IV staff housing are also in the final stages. Narayana said the chief minister had directed the officials to complete the iconic towers by August 2028.
On land acquisition, the minister clarified that notifications were issued only in areas where farmers had not opted for land pooling. The government was still persuading farmers to join the pooling scheme and would abide by court directions in disputed cases.
