MLA Ganta Slams YSRC’s Political Culture
Ganta criticised YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, describing Chandrababu as one of the most senior leaders in the country.
Visakhapatnam: Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao launched a scathing attack on the YSRC, alleging that abusive language has become an integral part of its political culture.
During a press conference at his residence on Monday, the MLA announced that he would write to the Election Commission to seek the cancellation of the party’s recognition, arguing that its conduct has brought shame to civilised society.
Ganta criticised YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his remarks against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, describing Chandrababu as one of the most senior leaders in the country. Displaying clips of Jagan's comments on a laptop, he stated that leaders who join the YSRC quickly adopt what he called “despicable language.”
He expressed doubt that Jagan, who himself uses such words, would be able to restrain his party members.
Ganta recalled that when false information about Jagan Mohan Reddy’s wife, Bharati, was circulated on social media, the TD suspended those responsible. He contrasted this with the YSRC’s tolerance of vulgar speech, warning that leaders who resort to uncivilised language will be remembered as “historical villains.”
He noted that former chief minister late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had once gracefully withdrawn his remarks against Chandrababu in the Assembly, urging current leaders to follow that example.
Additionally, Ganta rejected attempts to politicise disciplinary actions by attributing caste motives to punishments. He questioned Jaganmohan Reddy’s stance on opposition status, pointing out that as Chief Minister, Jagan had argued that the TD could lose its opposition role if five or six members defected from its 23-member strength. Yet he noted that Jagan now seeks opposition status for his party despite having won only 11 seats.
