Ministers Release Water from VZM District’s Andra Reservoir

Srinivas said the reservoir built in Andra village will fulfil irrigation as well as drinking water needs in Gotlam, Gorla and Vizianagaram areas

Visakhapatnam: Small and Medium Enterprises minister Kondapalli Srinivas, along with Women, Child and Tribal Welfare minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani released water from the Andra Reservoir in Mentada mandal in Vizianagaram district on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas said the reservoir built in Andra village will fulfil irrigation as well as drinking water needs in Gotlam, Gorla and Vizianagaram areas. He said ₹2.5 crore had been sanctioned for the project’s repair and development.
The minister said the state government is giving high priority to agricultural development and irrigation. In this regard, he asked officials to prepare a plan for developing Andhra Reservoir as a tourist attraction.
Minister Sandhya Rani said the government is committed to the well-being of north Andhra farmers. She asked authorities to ensure that the water from Andra Reservoir reaches the lands of all the targeted farmers.
Sandhya Rani asserted that the NDA government will implement the Super Six schemes as promised before the elections. She pointed out that programmes like Talliki Vandanam, Mega DSC and pensions have already been launched, while the free bus scheme for women will be implemented from August 15, along with Annadata Sukhibhava.
“Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will fulfil all the promises made despite the financial difficulties,” the minister assured.

On the occasion, ministers Srinivas and Sandhya Rani congratulated Pusapati Ashok Gajapathiraju for being sworn in as the Governor of Goa. They praised him as a disciplined person dedicated to public service.

Andra Reservoir will irrigate 9,426 acres, with its ayacut details being Mentada mandal 3,969 acres, Gajapathinagaram mandal 3,340 acres and Bobbili mandal 2,117 acres.
