Ministers and MLA Thank CM Naidu for Widening of HNSS Main Canal
The MLA said the state government is working with a clear plan to transport 50 TMC of water by March 6, before the end of the current season.
Anantapur: Finance minister Payyavula Keshav, Irrigation minister N. Rama Naidu and Assembly whip Kalava Srinivasulu met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the CM’s office on Friday, expressing their gratitude for widening of the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanti (HNSS) main canal from Malyala to Jeedipalli of Anantapur district.
As a result, of the 50 TMC feet of Krishna backwaters of Srisailam, 40 TMC feet have been drawn in just 190 days to meet the drinking water and irrigation needs of the Rayalaseema region till Kuppam.
Further Krishna water has reached not only Kuppam in Chittoor district but also the peak height of the state in Madakasira area of Satya Sai district. The AP CM asked the ministers and MLA to concentrate on filling all irrigation tanks to meet needs of irrigation and drinking even during peak summer.
MLA Srinivasulu pointed out that during 2019–20, it took the YSRC government 265 days to transport 40 TMC of water whereas now, due to widening of the HNSS main canal, it has taken just 190 days to transport the same.
Srinivasulu attributed this success to the special initiatives taken by the Chief Minister, particularly the expansion of the main canal from Malyala to Jeedipalli. He recalled that Chandrababu Naidu had himself released the water into the Handri-Neeva main canal at Malyala on July 17 last year.
