Ministers Address Grievances of Farmers Affected by Jindal Project
The meeting decided to release the pending share amount to 82 farmers who have not yet received it.
Visakhapatnam:State home minister Vangalapudi Anitha convened a crucial meeting at her camp office in Visakhapatnam to address the long-standing grievances of Vizianagaram farmers affected by the Jindal project. Anitha, who is Vizianagaram district in-charge, along with district minister Kondapalli Srinivas attended the meeting. The meeting took several key decisions to resolve issues that have persisted for years.
The meeting decided to release the pending share amount to 82 farmers who have not yet received it. Employment opportunities will be provided to one member from each family that has lost land to the project. Families that lost their homes in Bandavalasa village will be allotted house sites measuring three cents each.
Farmers who lost their agricultural lands will receive additional special financial assistance of ₹2.50 lakh per acre. Compensation will be sanctioned to five individuals in Chidipalem village, who had been excluded from the official list despite being in the occupation of the land.
Following the meeting, officials have been instructed to re-examine the issue concerning the POT (Prohibition of Transfer) status of 18 farmers and take action based on ground realities.
The meeting discussed granting of D-pattas (assignment deeds) to eligible individuals occupying government lands in Moolabuddavaram village after the constitution of an assignment committee.
Farmers have expressed satisfaction with these responses on behalf of the government. They conveyed their gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Home minister, minister Srinivas, and other public representatives for taking the initiative to resolve their issues.
Those who attended the meeting included MLA Lalitha Kumari, MLC Raghu Raju, representatives from the Jindal company, officials from relevant departments, and farmers affected by the project.
