Minister Savita Appreciates Vijayawada’s Doondi Ganesh
The minister appealed to people to worship idols made of clay and make environmental protection an integral part of the festivities.
Vijayawada:BC Welfare minister S. Savita participated in the arrival ceremony of the 72-foot Chaumukha Varasiddhi Maha Ganapathi idol being installed by the Doondi Ganesh Seva Samithi at Vidyadharapuram in Vijayawada on Sunday night. The idol is modelled after the famous Khairatabad Ganesh in Hyderabad.
Savita appreciated that the samithi has been organising the large-scale Vinayaka Navaratri celebrations for the past six years, coinciding with the formation of the new Andhra Pradesh. She lauded the Doondi Ganesh Seva Samithi members for maintaining traditions, while ensuring that the celebrations cause no harm to the environment.

During the event, she joined women representatives of the Doondi Ganesh Seva Samithi in performing kolatam, adding a festive touch to the celebrations. She also congratulated traditional dance artistes who gave performances on the occasion.
Those who participated in the event included MLC Budda Venkanna, Doondi Rakesh, Perepi Eswara Rao, and industrialist Ambika Krishna.
