Visakhapatnam: Tribal Welfare minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani on Thursday felicitated tribal welfare hostel warden Hemani for her exemplary humanitarian service in helping an ailing student Vatika Bhuvaneswari receive timely medical care.

The minister honoured Hemani during a programme in Garugubilli, praising her dedication and compassion beyond the call of duty.

Hemani, a warden at the Tribal Girls' Welfare School in Gummalakshmipuram, had gone to visit Bhuvaneswari at her home as she had not turned up at the school. When the warden reached the girl’s home at Vadaputti village, she found her suffering from high fever.

In the absence of a motorable road, Hemani walked nearly three kilometres carrying the student to ensure that she received prompt medical treatment. The incident has drawn widespread appreciation for the warden’s commitment to the welfare of tribal students.

Commending her efforts, Minister Sandhya Rani urged government employees and the public alike to take inspiration from Hemani's example and respond sensitively to social issues.

AP Women’s Commission chairperson Dr. Rayapati Sailaja has lauded warden Hemani for her commendable job.
