Visakhapatnam: Following complaints with regard to maintenance, food quality and educational standards, Women, Child and Tribal Welfare minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani conducted a surprise inspection at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Karakavalasa in Gantyada mandal of Vizianagaram district on Wednesday.

During her inspection, the minister checked out food items, cleanliness and safety measures, apart from questioning students about the educational standards. She interacted with students to understand their needs and instructed the special officer to prioritise maintenance at the KGBV.
Sandhya Rani declared, "The safety of girl students is of utmost priority. If there is any untoward incident, the special officer will be held responsible."
The minister wanted educational standards at KGBV to match those of reputable institutions, enabling students to compete in national-level exams. She highlighted the importance of cleanliness and health, urging teachers and officials to monitor the students' well-being closely.
"No student should be anaemic. Any illness must be addressed promptly and best treatment made available," she underlined.
