Visakhapatnam: State agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu conducted a surprise inspection of the district government hospital in Tekkali on Monday, addressing concerns over staff shortages and infrastructure gaps. After reviewing attendance registers and inspecting key departments, including OPD, emergency, orthopaedics, and general wards, he held a review meeting with doctors and nurses, stressing the need for improved performance and punctuality.

Acknowledging the shortage of staff nurses, the minister assured that he would speak to senior officials in the medical and health department to expedite appointments. He also instructed all personnel to report by 9 a.m. and requested to submit cost estimates for installing washing machines to ensure daily linen changes.

To strengthen hospital security, he spoke with the district superintendent of police about setting up an outpost. He directed APMIDC engineers to ready the biomedical treatment plant and mortuary buildings by September 15 and complete beautification works around the premises.
