Minister Lays Stone for Long-Pending Bridge at Marrivalasa
Long-pending bridge to boost connectivity and access to essential services
Visakhapatnam: The decades-old demand of residents belonging to Marrivalasa village in Gajapathinagaram mandal in Vizianagaram district has been fulfilled on Sunday with MSME minister Kondapalli Srinivas laying the foundation stone for a road-cum-bridge project estimated to cost Rs 6.50 crore.
The minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Marrivalasa Gram Panchayat building, built at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas said the bridge is fulfilment of a promise made during the election campaign in the 2024 elections. The bridge would substantially improve connectivity and facilitate faster access to education, healthcare, and other essential services for villagers.
The minister said funds for the long-pending project have been sanctioned under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, with support from the centre, following the intervention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan.
Srinivas said earlier efforts had been made to improve connectivity across the Champavathi River between Konisa, Patruvada, and Marrivalasa, with Konisa and Patruvada bridges having been completed.
The minister said his objective is to develop the constituency by drawing inspiration from his grandfather, former MP Paiditalli Naidu.
Villagers asked Srinivas to address the dilapidated condition of the local Anganwadi and school buildings. He assured them that new buildings would be constructed next year. APSRTC officials would be requested to ensure a bus stop at Marrivalasa for students.
