Minister flags off 10 mobile ICTCs to curb HIV/AIDS
Vijayawada:Minister for health Satya Kumar Yadav flagged off 10 mobile Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTC) to test the HIV/AIDS to the people at a programme held on the premises of Siddarth Medical College and hospital here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that they had pressed into service 10 mobile ICTCs in addition to the existing 16 ICTC set up at various health centres earlier with an intention to curb spread of HIV/AIDS.
The minister said that the mobile ICTCs would be of immense help to reach out to the inaccessible areas as part of the measures to curb HIV/AIDS to the people and the added that the programme was being taken up under the joint aegis of NACO and AP State Aids Control Society.
With regard to prevalence of HIV/AIDS, the minister stated that where there were over 25 lakh HIV/AIDS positive cases in the country, AP has 2.22 lakh cases by standing in the second position after Maharashtra.
