TIRUPATI: Revenue minister and Tirupati district in-charge Anagani Satya Prasad on Tuesday questioned the absence of digital payment systems in liquor shops during the previous YSRC regime, suggesting potential irregularities connected to the ongoing liquor scam investigation.
Speaking at Renigunta as part of the Telugu Desam Party’s door-to-door campaign Suparipālanalō Tholi Adugu, the minister stated that the liquor scam probe was progressing according to legal procedures, and dismissed allegations of political vendetta. He asked why digital payment options were not available during the previous regime and where the corresponding cash transactions were being recorded. He also raised concerns about possible use of shell companies to divert unaccounted funds.
The minister was joined by Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Sudheer Reddy as they visited households in the constituency, highlighting the achievements of the current government over the past year. He said the previous administration had set back the state by nearly three decades, which the new government had managed to stabilise within a year.
He claimed that investment proposals worth ₹10 lakh crore had been received and that employment opportunities for 9 lakh people were being created. The minister announced that free bus travel for women would commence from August 15. He added that unemployment assistance for jobless youth would be rolled out soon, alongside the implementation of the Thalliki Vandhanam scheme, which offers financial aid to mothers based on the number of children.
Satya Prasad said the response to the outreach campaign had been overwhelmingly positive, while alleging that the opposition was being rejected by the public due to its misleading narratives.
