Minister Denies Srisailam Temple Merger Into Markapur District
“The Srisailam temple is a sacred pilgrimage centre. Dragging such a holy shrine into unnecessary controversy is not right”: Social welfare minister Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy
NELLORE: Social welfare minister Dr. Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy has strongly refuted reports circulating in some media outlets that the Srisailam temple would be merged into the proposed Markapur district.
“The Srisailam temple is a sacred pilgrimage centre. Dragging such a holy shrine into unnecessary controversy is not right,” the minister said, cautioning that certain vested interests were attempting to create discord between districts.
He clarified that the proposal for the new Markapur district covers Markapur, Yerragondapalem, Giddalur, Kanigiri, and Darsi in the western region but does not include Srisailam.
On the issue of district reorganisation, he stated that a cabinet sub-committee will take the final decision and urged the public not to worry. “No one should misuse the media to spread misinformation for personal gain,” he added.
