Micro, Small, and Medium Industries Gaining Momentum in Rayalaseema
Industrial parks are seeing a rapid expansion in Kurnool, Nandyal, and Kadapa districts
KURNOOL: Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a renewed push towards industrial development, with the government accelerating the establishment of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) parks across Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa districts.
Officials say more than 850 acres have been earmarked for development of industrial parks in these three districts. Once fully operational, these parks are expected to significantly boost the regional economy and generate large-scale employment opportunities.
Kurnool district has emerged as a key hub for industrial growth in Rayalaseema, owing to its resource base and strategic location. The government has given the green signal for setting up nine MSME parks across 451.09 acres in the district. These parks are currently in various stages of development.
The industrial park at Guttapadu in Panyam constituency has already been inaugurated, paving the way for industrial units to set up operations. Foundation stones have been laid for parks in Yemmiganur, Mantralayam, and Alur, where development works are now underway. However, land acquisition issues are continuing to delay projects in Pattikonda and Adoni.
“Nine MSME parks in Kurnool district are at different stages of progress. Once completed, they will create a strong industrial ecosystem in the region,” a senior industries department official said.
In the interim, Nandyal district has attracted significant investments. Two major projects worth ₹678 crore are in the pipeline. They are expected to generate employment for around 600 people. Of these, a ₹478-crore project has already received Cabinet approval, while another is currently at the stage of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
“These projects will play a crucial role in transforming Nandyal into an emerging industrial destination,” an official underlined.
Kadapa district is witnessing steady progress in this regard, with seven MSME parks being developed across 399.97 acres. Foundation stones have been laid in Proddatur, Pulivendula, Kamalapuram, and Jammalamadugu. The Badvel-Gopavaram industrial park is already operational and attracting investors. Efforts are underway to reclaim land related to an industrial development plot in Kadapa city.
“Kadapa, especially with Kopparthi as the focal point, is fast emerging as a key industrial cluster,” said a senior official.
Authorities emphasise that special focus is being placed on strengthening infrastructure, including land acquisition, power supply, water facilities, and road connectivity.
“Though some projects in the region have been delayed due to land acquisition challenges, we are confident of resolving these issues soon,” a revenue official from Kurnool district said.
With multiple projects in advanced stages and strong policy support, officials believe that Rayalaseema is on track to emerge as a major industrial hub in Andhra Pradesh during the coming years.
