Visakhapatnam: A case of exploitation has come to light in Visakhapatnam, involving a marriage bureau that allegedly functioned as a front for criminal activity. Unmarried women were reportedly targeted, drugged, and raped by a group operating within the Fourth Town Police limits. The group is also accused of recording videos of unconscious victims and using them for blackmail.
An initial complaint did not result in police action, leading one victim to approach the media. Investigations indicate that the group gathered information on potential victims through the marriage bureau, herbal product sales, and possibly delivery services. Victims were reportedly drugged before being assaulted. In cases of pregnancy, threats of death or contract killings were allegedly used to force abortions, which were arranged in secret.
The group is believed to have recorded videos of around 30 women and used them to extort money. The victim who came forward has demanded strict punishment for those involved and called on authorities to locate and assist other affected women.
