Hyderabad: Manda Krishna Madiga, founder-president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) welcomed the Andhra Pradesh government’s announcement of an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who died in a road accident near Chilakaluripet in Palnadu district.

He said all the victims belonged to poor families and were from the Madiga community. He said the financial assistance would have been more helpful to the bereaved families, had the government announced the ex-gratia immediately after the deaths.

Manda Krishna Madiga questioned why there was a delay in announcing compensation when the victims belonged to the Scheduled Caste community. He urged the government to respond promptly and extend similar assistance to victims from the community in such incidents.
