Man Murders Estranged Wife, Rides Body to Police Station to Surrender

Amaravati: In a shocking case of domestic violence from Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district, a man stands accused of murdering his estranged wife and then driving with her body on his motorcycle to surrender at a police station.
The accused, Venkateshwarlu, a resident of Yelchuru village, had been married to Mahalakshmi, 28, of Machavaram in a love marriage, and the couple had two children. However, Mahalakshmi had separated from Venkateshwarlu due to persistent marital disputes.
Police report that on Sunday, Venkateshwarlu travelled to Machavaram and convinced Mahalakshmi to accompany him to the village outskirts under the pretense of giving her gold. Once there, he allegedly strangled her to death. He subsequently placed her body on his motorcycle and drove to the Santamaguluru police station, where he turned himself in.
Police immediately shifted the woman to a nearby Primary Health Centre, where medical staff confirmed her death. Her body was taken into custody for a post-mortem examination. A murder case has been registered, and Rompicharla police are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the sequence of events and the motive behind the crime.
