Man Arrested in Threat Case Against Pawan
Vijayawada: Hours after a threatening call was made to Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan's office, the police apprehended Mallikarjuna, a resident of Water Tank Road in Labbipet, Vijayawada. The accused is believed to have issued death threats and sent abusive messages to Pawan Kalyan's office.
The cybercrime police tracked the suspect using cell phone signals and discovered that the same number had earlier been used to issue threats to home minister Vangalapudi Anitha.
The incident began when staff at Pawan Kalyan's Mangalagiri office received two threatening calls—one on Sunday and another on Monday. The staff alerted Pawan Kalyan and lodged a complaint with the DGP's office, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections and the initiation of an investigation.
Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, upon learning of the threats, spoke with AP DGP Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao and directed him to identify the caller and take strict action. The DGP assured her that the probe was in progress and the suspect was being traced. With Mallikarjuna now in custody, police are continuing their investigation into the motive and other potential links.
