Visakhapatnam:A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the north Odisha-West Bengal coasts.

The low pressure is expected to intensify over the next two to three days, according to Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) managing director Prakhar Jain.

He said the weather system is likely to bring heavy rainfall at one or two places in the north coastal Andhra districts over the next three days, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected at several other locations across the region.

Strong winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely along the Andhra coast. As the sea conditions would be rough, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until further notice.

According to the weather forecast, Friday is expected to witness cloudy skies across Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, is likely at isolated places in Srikakulam, Polavaram region, Konaseema, West Godavari, and Eluru districts, while light rain is expected at isolated places in the remaining districts.
