Vijayawada: Education Minister Nara Lokesh would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi in the evening on Saturday.

Lokesh was in Anantapur on a district tour on Friday when he received confirmation for the appointment. He cut short his visit and headed for Hyderabad.
The PM had invited Lokesh to Delhi on two occasions. During relaunch of the Amaravati Capital works programme, Modi interacted with Lokesh and asked him to meet him in Delhi. Lokesh sought an appointment and this was confirmed through a call from the PMO.
The TDP is a key partner in the NDA government run by Modi in its present term. It was not clear as to what issues the PM would discuss with the state minister. There is talk that Lokesh would be given more important responsibilities in the Telugu Desam in the upcoming Mahanadu in Kadapa. Speculations are also that Lokesh would emerge as the “supreme leader” in the party in future.
Sources said Lokesh would explain the conditions in AP in the aftermath of the five-year-rule of the state by the YSRC. He would also list the steps taken by the TD-led government to put the state on the “right track”.
The Amaravati, Polavaram and other projects and funding issues would likely be discussed in Lokesh’s meeting with the PM. A coffee table book on Lokesh’s Yuvagalam padayatra (walkathon) is likely to be presented to the PM during the meeting.
