VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh IT and Electronics minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday met Albert Yefimov, senior vice president of Russia's state-controlled banking giant Sberbank in Moscow.

During the meeting, Lokesh asked Sberbank to expand its GigaChat large language model (LLM) platform in India as a secure, localised generative AI alternative for the banking, public administration, and retail sectors. He sought technical cooperation in integrating Sberbank's advanced voice-recognition and biometric anti-fraud technologies into India's banking infrastructure to strengthen the security of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ecosystem.

The minister proposed the adoption of Sberbank's predictive analytics, smart transit surveillance, and digital safety systems under India's Smart Cities Mission to improve municipal administration and urban governance. He requested the establishment of the bank's gamified peer-to-peer “School 21” coding academies at major educational hubs across India to train software and AI engineers.
