Lokesh Asks Women to Publicise Free Bus Travel World Over
The minister recalled that during his Yuvagalam Padayatra, he saw for himself the hardships that women go through. He thus sought inclusion of free bus travel in the Super Six scheme.
Vijayawada: Education, IT and Electronics minister Nara Lokesh has urged women of Andhra Pradesh to share their Stree Sakthi Free RTC Bus Travel empowerment journey with the world by posting selfies with their free bus tickets under hashtag #FreeBusTicketSelfie.
Lokesh said the initiative would highlight the state government’s commitment to providing safe, dignified and free bus travel to all women—symbolising hope, freedom and equality.
In this regard, the minister released a Stree Shakti Babu Super 6 poster on X on Saturday, highlighting “A ticket to opportunity.” Lokesh underlined that every post that women put up on X would inspire more women to step forward with confidence.
Lokesh wrote in his post, “Every free bus ticket is a story of hope, freedom and dignity. This is more than a ride. It is mobility, independence and equal opportunity. Sisters, let’s celebrate this journey together! Share your ticket with #FreeBusTicketSelfie and show the world what empowerment looks like.”
The minister recalled that during his Yuvagalam Padayatra, he saw for himself the hardships that women go through. He thus sought inclusion of free bus travel in the Super Six scheme.
“Women carry more burden than the Earth. No matter what they take up, women are number one,” Lokesh stated. He pointed out that the Stree Shakti scheme will reduce the burden on students and working women by about Rs 1,500 per month.
As an example of such empowerment of women, the minister cited the example of his family. “If women are given opportunities, they create miracles. Our house is an example. Chandrababu started Heritage in 1992, saying that his family should not depend on politics for financial needs. Two years later, Naidu became the Finance and Revenue Minister. My mother had to look after the company. After he got busy in politics, he entrusted the business responsibilities to my mother Bhuvaneswari. Initially, my mother was afraid to go to the office. Sometimes she would go to the office and sit in the car outside. But later, courageously, she took her Heritage company to the next level. Today, she is running a company worth Rs 5,000 crore,” Lokesh stated.
